Today I’m driving to Vegas to go to KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industry Show), by myself and I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was a bit nervous. I’ve been to Vegas a dozen of times, but I’ve never gone by myself. All week, I’ve been struggling with the questions and thoughts “should I go?”, “am I really going to learn that much?”, “I probably won’t have any fun”, “I’m going to be missing out on work at home”, yet something inside of me is beckoning me to go. Let me tell you, if I were planning this trip with either Nick or some friends, these thoughts wouldn’t even cross my mind! So I think this little road trip is going to be good for me!

This week I’m heading to Vegas to join thousands of other kitchen and bath designers at KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industry Show) at the Las Vegas Convention Center. KBIS is held once a year, alternating between Chicago and Las Vegas. Luckily, it’s in Vegas this year (driving distance, yay!), so I’m going to spend a couple days checking out the latest and greatest in kitchen and bath trends.

One thing that clearly stands out in my memory as a child, is that Easter was filled with jelly beans! This year, this classic little candy shaped as a bean takes a more mature direction in the form of a Easter cocktail martini. This is what the Easter Bunny will be leaving at our house this year!

Fill martini shaker half full of ice. Add alcohol ingredients and grenadine, then cover with sour mix. Shake vigorously and pour into martini glass. Add favorite flavor jelly beans.

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays since it’s usually right around my birthday and it states that Spring is officially here with Summer not too far behind. Throughout my life, I’ve always received birthday gifts wrapped in pastels, egg shapes and bunnies. And I LOVE it! Easter is so sweet and soft with it’s tints of pink, yellow, green and blue all making their appearances in table décor, centerpieces, window hangings, cakes, candies and eggs! Here’s to Easter!

I spent the weekend in San Diego. A favorite spot of mine has always been Seaport Village. This weekend, a man was sharing with the rest of the world, a collection of parrots which he’s rescued. I was completely awestruck and inspired by the colors on these birds.
Ever since I met with my new decorating client yesterday, I’ve got sofas on the brain! We are custom designing a piece for her and I’m so excited to see how it turns out!
