So I haven't worn a headband (not counting when I wash my face) since lets say, oh, about 1988. My thought on the hair accessory immediately switched from "cringe" to "crave" when I saw these little beauties over at Anna's blog this week! I've been following Anna's blog for a while now and I instantly was drawn to her beautifully artistic site and immediately added her to my blog roll! Love her! You can tell from her work that she is extremely passionate about her projects and takes great pride in every detail!
When I asked Anna how she got started and what inspired her to start her own business, she replied,
"I always say I am blessed to do something I love. What started as an effort to earn extra income to stay at home with my son, turned into a dream come true! I have loved every minute of being a small business owner....from the design aspect to the people I meet along the way. In addition to my crafting adventures, I teach art lessons, am a freelance Graphic Designer, and mother to a super cute baby boy and wife of an incredibly loving husband. I couldn't do it without them."
You can see more of Anna Liesemeyer's products at her In Honor Of Etsy Store which includes items such as sashes, necklaces, ribbons, clips, beanies and more for all you girly girls! What initially caught my eye and my favorite piece of hers is the 'Taste of Modern River Blue Circles'. Love the look and the price of all her work!

Wednesday Weekend Warm Up (longing for summer...)
I know I'm not the only one out there wishing for summer to be right around the corner! This colorful little cocktail has a few more ingredients and steps, but it oh-so-pretty!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups strained watermelon juice
- 10 mint leaves, chopped fine
- 1 cups simple syrup, room temperature
- Juice of 1 lemon or lime
- 1 1/2 cups Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray gin, chilled (Use good gin. It does make a difference.)
- Fresh mint sprigs for garnish
- Club soda, chilled
- Ice cubes
Directions:
- Make simple syrup by bringing 1/2 cup of white sugar and 1/2 cup of water to a boil. Boil until all the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and let cool
- Cut up 1/2 small seedless watermelon (remember to cut the rind off!) and with an immersion blender or stand blender, puree it with 10 chopped mint leaves. Strain though cheesecloth or paper towels until you have 2 cups of juice. Tip: Fold a few pieces of paper towel and place it in a colander. Pour the pureed watermelon over it and let it drip through on its own. When it's almost done draining, gently pull up the soaked paper towels and squeeze the rest of the juice out.
- Chill watermelon juice, simple syrup and lemon juice until cold.
- Chill gin until ready to serve.
- When ready to serve, add cold gin to chilled juice and pour over ice.
- Add a splash of club soda and garnish with mint sprigs.

Makeover Monday: Insider Tips, Tricks & Expert Advice
Making over your kitchen? Try some of these tips to make your transition a little easier.
Paint is one of the most versatile decorating tools there is. A fresh new color on the walls will do a lot to lighten and brighten, but don't stop there. Consider repainting the kitchen cabinets to completely transform the look... since the cabinets take up most of the wall space in most kitchens. Melamine paint is best for kitchen cabinets. It's tough, easy-to-wash and can be tinted in a variety of colors. Some types of flooring, such as wood and sheet vinyl, can also be painted. Check with the paint supplier for the correct usage.
Try it out: Bring home paint chips and other samples that you're considering and try different combinations in the actual room in natural light. It's the most effective way to decide what you can — and can't — live with.
*Try some of these no-fail neutrals
Change all the hardware on the cabinets and drawers. There are all kinds of great designs, from forks and knives to other more sophisticated modern looks.
Change the kitchen faucet. Many of the new faucets are specially designed for do-it-yourself installation, using just basic tools. Cost can vary so keep your budget in mind.
Add new mouldings. New crown mouldings or chair rails are another quick and easy one day project. For instant elegance, you can also add crown mouldings to the top of plain cabinets.No-fail neutrals
Whatever the state of your kitchen, there's a color to make it five-star. On the menu: cabinet friendly neautrals.

A pretty not-quite-white, this is the color to fall back on - for either cabinetry or walls - when you can't make up your miind.

Funky State Street Alternative
I wanted to share a little more with you about our fun trip to Santa Barbara last weekend. We found this cheap and trendy place to rest our heads after a long day of wine tasting. The Presidio Motel has such a funky vibe that was a refreshing alternative to the standard hotel rooms that are out there. And the location on north State Street was within walking distance to all the major attractions.
We had the pleasure of staying in Room #9 (there are 16 total)
I really appreciated the unconventional special touches and details that were displayed in the room. It was great waking up to a mobile above my head (haven't done that since I was a baby!) and gazing at the vinyl wall decals was pretty cool.
Wednesday Weekend Warm Up
This week's weekend warm up inspiration comes from my little get away to Santa Barbara that I had with my Sweetheart over Valentine's weekend. While we were wine tasting, we enjoyed, hands down, THE BEST white wine I've ever tried! It is called Verdelho and the brand we tasted was from Oreana Winery. I prefer red wines over white wines, but this little beauty is known as "THE white wine for red wine drinkers". (And at about $22 a bottle, you can't go wrong!)
"Verdelho was once Portugal's most common white wine, but centuries of market trends towards chardonnay have left it nearly extinct . . . until now. With the flavors of tropical fruit and guava, and the supple body that makes Viognier so seductive, Verdelho is destined for popularity. A wonderfully rich honey-suckle wine that goes great with Asian cuisine, spicy foods and sushi, this wine will be gone before most people know what they are missing."
Another fabulous find that I saw at Oreana was this riddling rack that they are using to hold small succulents. How cool?!

Happy President's Day! Enjoy a subtle presidential palette without being too obvious.
I love these red, white and blues for their slight nod towards patriotism. You can take pleasure in a sophisticated and clever twist on the tried and true color scheme of the good ol' U.S.A. without having to display an American Flag in every corner. Take a glimpse at the understated nationalistic beauty in each of the spaces below.
I love it! Each one has their pride of their country on display without being too obvious or "themey". Rather than plastering flags and Uncle Sam posters all over the walls, know when to stop or scale back when decorating with a theme. The rooms above were inspired by the American Flag and a classic American color palette, and you can still tell what they were motivated by without being too apparent. Don't take your design theme too far!

lilac + crimson crush
Naughty + nice. I love the contrast of hot crimson against the icy lilac. I think the soft, cool purple office is the perfect transition to the hot and spicy red room next door. How unexpected! It portrays the perfect blend of soft & sweet with a little chic sassy tossed in. (Doesn't she look all so innocent and yet a little naughty all at the same time?)

Try this tip when thinking about freshening up your powder room!
"Find a great antique mirror for your powder room. The slight mottling of vintage glass seems to make those tiny lines and wrinkles miraculously disappear. And when people know they look great, they have more fun." -Ashley Whittaker
In powder room above, Kohler sink and faucetry. Antique Venetian mirror. Italian marble torso. Window treatment in fabric by Kelly Wearstler for Schumacher.
Instead of a single antique mirror, why not cover the whole wall in antique mirror squares!
