Makeover Monday: Tip + Giveaway!

"Put a real rug, not a bathroom rug, in front of your bathroom sink. It will hold up just fine."

I liked this idea so much I'd thought I'd move my rug from RugsUSA from the front door to my guest bathroom.

As you all know, last Thursday I mentioned that I am hosting a rug giveaway from RugsUSA. In honor of my one year blogiversary, I'm celebrating with a giveaway and today's the day! I seriously couldn't imagine my life blog-less; thank you all for making this blog community a fun and inspiring place to be! My most clever tip for decorating my home is PAINT!
it can conceal a myriad of flaws, determine/set a mood..
transform dark into light..
and add color to drabness..
is inexpensive enough to do as often as one wishes..
I LOVE PAINT!
warm sandy hugs..

Wow awesome giveaway! I am a follower :)

My trick is repurposing old pieces in new ways- either painting it, putting it somewhere else, etc.

Great giveaway!!! Not sure I have a "clever" trick but my tip is to buy what you LOVE- don't worry about whether it will work or not. If you really love it, it will! ;)

I defintely like to move things around the house...don't keep things in the same room year after year..move them around! I find I fall in love with things again when I see them in another room.

I love the idea of putting a real rug in the bathroom! It probably holds up a lot better than the others! My tip is using old pieces in new spaces. Maybe it's spray painting an old frame, or sanding and re-staining a coffee table. I love to reuse pieces and give them new life!

You know, my trick is to drink a lot so I don't care that the babies are ruining my house! Ha!! Okay, I don't drink(much) but I do just try to find the happy place in my head so it won't kill me when my son smears chocolate on my newly painted wall.

My tip is to sand and repaint or varnish old wooden pieces, I've done it for dressers, chests, antique radios, chairs, tables, and more.

I'm your new follower, my decor tricks are using things sometimes not for their intended purpose, I've once used a china cabinet in my master bathroom for my towels, soaps etc.
I'm feeling lucky, so I prefer the traditional rug over the other one in this case.

HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY Jami!!! :) Oooo both of these rugs are so fun, I think I like the traditional one better! You know I'm a follower. I think my most clever tip when it comes to design or decorating is smells! I just adore having candles, fresh flowers, and fragrances like these filling the house to create a happy, relaxing and inviting feeling.

My favorite tip/trick is to repurpose old items into new decor. Example: an old birdcage makes a lovely plant stand.

I actually have a real rub in the guest/less used bathroom. The way my DH and son get stuff all over the floor of the main one, I ahve to be able to wash it often!! My most used decorating thing in our house is books. Stacks of particular colors or styles to accent the things they are near.

I would say my tip is UPCYCLE. If you are sick and tired of an item, just jazz it up, change the colors, or give it a new purpose!

I like to decorate with things that have meaning or memory for me. If it isn't something from my history, I usually make up some story for it (kind of like phoebe from friends!)! =)
